"It makes one wonder why a public official made certain decisions, especially ones that benefited certain interests, when just days, months or years later they take a lucrative job lobbying for the same interests."
Craig Holman, a government affairs expert at Public Citizen, commenting on Scott McInnis' voting record, as quoted in The Denver Post, 07/25/2010.

Wilson fights for his DA job after DUI charges

By Steve Grazier, The Durango Herald,
March 12, 2010
Jim Wilson, district attorney for the 22nd Judicial District, said he will not step down from his elected position in the wake of his recent driving under the influence charge.

Wilson faces five counts of criminal misconduct stemming from the February DUI incident. He defended his right to have the case go through a fair legal process and noted the charges do not reach a level of illegality for him to quit the office.

“There's nothing about this charge or charges that would require me to step down as district attorney," Wilson said. “I intend to go ahead and finish my term out."

Charges against Wilson include driving under the influence of alcohol; driving with an excessive amount of alcohol, above the state's 0.08 percent limit; possession of a weapon, a 9mm handgun, while under the influence of alcohol; an open-container violation and careless driving. All counts are misdemeanors.
